9 March 2011SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy E. Thomas, 79, of Sioux City died Saturday, March 5, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. today at St. Paul's Indian Mission Church, with Leon Pftonhauser and Ron Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Hobo Creek Cemetery, rural Lindy, Neb. Visitation with the family will begin today and will continue until one hour prior to the service today at Four Direction Community Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.
Dorothy was born Sept. 16, 1931, in Flandreau, S.D., the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Lovejoy) Dudley. She attended school in Marty, S.D.
She married Raymond C. Thomas on March 4, 1950, in Center, Neb. She was employed with Standard Brands egg plant in the poultry house for 25 years, retiring when she was 65.
She was a member of St. Paul's Indian Mission Church.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond E. Thomas of Sioux City; four sons, Clarence, Harold, Charles and Terry Thomas, all of Sioux City; three daughters, Elaine and her husband, Norman Provost, Barb Macias and Phyllis Thomas, all of Sioux City; three brothers, David Dudley of Egan, S.D., Charles LePlante of Santee, Neb., and Larry Frazier of Omaha; seven sisters, Gladys LePlante and Rachael Rathbone, both of Fremont, Neb., Bev Mauer of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dorothy Cotton of Minneapolis, Liz White and Harriet Jackson, both of Sioux City and Agnes Kelly of Georgia; 35 grandchildren; 85 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters; five brothers; and two sisters.
