SIOUX CITY -- Christina Rae VanVoorst, 36, of Sioux City went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 28, 2011.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Christina was born Feb. 28, 1975, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Ronald D. and Roxann (Sanow) VanVoorst. As a young child, Christina participated in Rabbit Club, 4-H, band, Junior Achievement, softball, Girl Scouts and Candy Striping. She graduated from South Sioux City High School. She was a blessing to the elderly she served during her career as a certified nurses aide at Matney's Colonial Manor and Bickford Cottage.

During her short span of life, she touched the hearts of many, whether it be her family, patients or many friends. She loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews, MaKayla, Ben, Carson, Lilly and Konrad. She had a great love for movies, reading and animals. She was a true and loyal friend to many.

Survivors include her parents, Ronald and Judy VanVoorst and Roxann and Keith Anger; two sisters, Corrine and husband, Aaron Heaton and their children, MaKayla, Benjamin and Carson, and Callie and husband, Anthony Port and their children, Lilliahna and Konrad; and her beloved dog, Dililah.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and two cousins.

Memorials in Christina's name may be given to the family.
