Maurice Paul Uhl, 75, Route 2, Sioux City, owner and operator of Uhl Turkey Farm, died Saturday in a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Native Catholic Church. The Rev. David J. Hogan will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. today in the Larkin Morningside Funeral Home. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will stand honor guard from 6:30-7:45 p.m. The rosary will be recite at 7 p.m. by the parish, 7:30 p.m. by the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and Catholic Daughters of America with a scripture service at 7:45 p.m. by the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus at the funeral home.
Mr. Uhl was born Jan. 19, 1912 in Bronson, Iowa, and was a lifelong Sioux City area resident. He married Phyllis Cote in June 1940. She died September 6, 1965. He married Florence Peterson July 9, 1966, in Sioux City. He had owned and operated Uhl Turkey Farm since 1932.
Mr. Uhl was a member of Nativity Catholic Church, Dr. E.J. Tierney Council 5660, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and was Past Grand Knight of the Council. He was a member of Garrigan Assembly of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Kenneth, Keith, Maurice Jr., and Steven, all of Sioux City, Allen of Hastings, Nebr, Terry of Overland Park, Kan., and Dr. Mark of Iowa City; five daughters, Carol Dallen of Spokane, Wash., Maureen Pearson and Lisa Uhl, both of Lincoln, Nebr., Marilyn Dennehay of Fort Worth, Texas and Shari Uhl of Crested Butte, Colo; four stepdaughters, Mary O’Neal of Lake Lotawana, Mo, Arlene Boesl of Albany, Ore., Myrna Lorenz of Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Doris Nelson of Crabtree, Ore; four brothers, Lester, Larry and Clarence, all of Sioux City and Bernard of Long Beach, Calf,; two sisters, Mrs. Irma Nice of San Mateo, Calf., and Mrs. Ruth Nice of Dublin, Calif., 36 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials have been established in Mr. Uhl’s name with Bishop Heelan Catholic School, American Cancer Society and Nativity Catholic Church.
