SIOUX CITY -- Thelma I. Fetterman, 81, of Sioux City went home to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Touchstone Rehab Center.

Private family graveside services will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Majors Dave and Mary Carliss officiating. There will be a time for friends to meet with the family at 1 p.m. Saturday at The Salvation Army, with a luncheon provided. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Thelma was born Feb. 25, 1930, in Wichita, Kan., to Jessie Earl and Flossie (Mathews) Piper.

Thelma married Martin Edgar Fetterman on May 3, 1947, in Wichita. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 1997, in Sioux City. She worked for several years as a CNA in housekeeping at Indian Hills Nursing Home. She was also a devoted mother of eight children.

Thelma had a wonderful life filled with family and friends. She was a member of The Salvation Army Church, where she worshiped and volunteered many hours of service. She had a great heritage of family. She enjoyed playing with her grand and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed collecting spoons, working puzzles and traveling.

Survivors include her daughter, Pat Delozir of Arizona; a son, Martin Earl (Carmalynn) Fetterman of Florida; a daughter, Linda Faith of Elk Point, S.D.; a son, Harold Ray (Kathy) Fetterman of Grand Haven, Mich.; twins, a daughter, Sandra (Dave) Aarenson of Sioux City and a son, Sandy (Lori) Fetterman of Elk Point; a son, Howard Fetterman of Texas; a son, Little John (Dennise) Fetterman of Missouri; 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenny (Arlene) Piper of Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; several brothers and sisters; a granddaughter, Allisha; and a grandson, Pete.
