SIOUX CITY -- Gloria Jeanette Trometer, 84, of Sioux City died of lung cancer Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Touchstone Living Center.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Merrill, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Gloria was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Hornick, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Alvina (King) Burkhart. She graduated from Hornick High School, then attended National Business Training in Sioux City.

She married Willard Trometer on may 13, 1966, in Luverne, Minn. She lived in Sioux City her entire adult life. She and Willard wintered in Mission, Texas, after retirement.

Gloria will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who was always on the go. She loved her children (Todd, Dennis and Denice), grandchildren, great-grandchildren and loved to travel. She will be greatly missed and her love is everlasting.

Survivors include her husband, Willard Trometer of Sioux City; a son, Todd Trometer and Jill of Fenton, Mo.; a daughter, Denice Price and Donald of Sioux City; a brother, Jan Burkhart of Sioux City; a sister, Sherri Martin and Don of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Carson and Taylor Trometer, Brian and Kevin Price, Marya and Bill "BG" Heimer; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and her special friends, Brent and Judi Hedlund, Merle and Sherlie Haitz and Marge Young.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dennis Heimer; and a grandson, Bradly Price.

Pallbearers will be Greg Barnes, Terry Barnes, Kevin Price, Brian Price, Trevor Price and Brad Peck.

The family would like to thank the hospice nurses from Mercy Medical Center and the staff at Touchstone for the great care provided by her nurses including Ruth and Britni, social worker, Deb, and aides, Joyce, Jody and Joannie.
