OTO, Iowa -- Marvin L. Drenkhahn, 73, of Oto passed away Monday, April 4, 2011, at a Sioux City hospital with his family by his side.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Oto United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sioux City. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Marvin Lester Drenkhahn was born Jan. 11, 1938, the son of Martin and Frances (Kelly) Drenkhahn, on the farm where he still lived. He was the youngest of five children. In 1956, he graduated from Oto High School. Marvin's career was in farming, but he also served as an assessor and trustee for Oto Township for many years.

Marvin was united in marriage to Ellen Coon on Aug. 4, 1959.

He was a member of the Oto United Church of Christ. Marvin loved to have his grandchildren come for the day.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ellen; two children, Daniel and his wife, Julie and their children, Lee and Kay and Dennis and his wife, Debbie and their children, Megan, Ashley, and Haley, all of Mapleton, Iowa; a sister, Doris Scholtes and her husband, Jim of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Adeline Drenkhahn of Mapleton; three nieces; and one nephew.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Cecil, Clifford, and Donald.
