1 April 2011SIOUX CITY -- Rachel Tierno, 94, of Sioux City died peacefully Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
Private family graveside services were held March 31 in Calvary Cemetery, where her nephew, the Rev. John Gerlach officiated. Arrangements were under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Rachel was born in Salix, Iowa, on Nov. 10, 1916, to Howard and Laura Low.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, Ione Trometer, Tom Pope, Rosemary O'Kane and Jim and Caroline Sands.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl J. Tierno; and her three sisters, Doris, Anna Marie and Eloise.
Memorials on behalf of Rachel should be directed to Hospice of Siouxland and Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
