SIOUX CITY -- Ardys J. Foster, 78, of Sioux City passed away May 25, 2011, at a local hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Ring of Glad Tidings Lighthouse officiating. Burial will be in Correctionville City (IA) Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Ardy was born on Feb. 22, 1933, in Correctionville, Iowa, to Marion and Opal (Gray) Stivers. She moved to Sioux City with the family and attended and graduated from East High School in 1953.

She married James Foster on June 26, 1953, at St. James United Methodist Church, and had been a resident of Siouxland her entire life. She was employed at the Old Home Bakery and later as a hair stylist in her own home.

She enjoyed doing artwork and painting as well as china and porcelain painting.

Survivors include her husband, James H. Foster of Sioux City; a son, Kim and Sharon Foster of Omaha, Neb., a daughter, Joni and Jay McFee of Vermillion, S.D.; three grandchildren, Robert Foster, Andrew Foster and BriAnn Christensen; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepbrother, Richard Gray.
