SIOUX CITY -- Janice Evans, 49, of Sioux City passed away Monday, May 16, 2011, at her residence following a lengthy battle with depression.

Services will be 6:30 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Per her wishes, the body will be cremated. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be posted at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Janice was born July 23, 1961, in East Moline, Ill., to John Robert and Ruth (Dahlin) Nelson. She graduated from United Township High School in East Moline. She took classes for respiratory care for two years at Lutheran Hospital in East Moline.

She worked sales at Kohl's and as a display representative for Proctor and Gamble. She loved the outdoors, gardening, doing crafts, spending time with her boys, helping others and volunteering.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Evans of Sioux City; two sons, Cory Evans and Nick Evans of Sioux City; two stepsons, Michael Evans of Alexandria, La., and Brandon Scott of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six step-grandchildren; her father, Robert Nelson of East Moline; a brother, Jim Nelson of Tucson, Ariz.; two sisters, Julie Adams of Davenport, Iowa, and a twin sister, JoAnn Nelson of East Moline; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.
