SIOUX CITY -- JoAnn Faye Wanatee, 63, of Sioux City died Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at Winnebago (Neb.) Treaty Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at HoChunk Center in Winnebago, with Truman Williams Sr. of Native American Church officiating. Burial will be in Winnebago Cemetery. Visitation continues today until service time Friday at HoChunk Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Winnebago Wake and Burial.

JoAnn was born Feb. 12, 1948, in Winnebago. She attended Winnebago Public Schools.

She married William Wanatee Sr. in 1967 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He died in 1980.

JoAnn resided in Winnebago until 1966, then in Cedar Rapids until 1986. She moved to Sioux City where she resided until her death.

She worked at Gateway.

She was a member of Native American Church.

Survivors include three sons, Willam (Amber) Wanatee Jr. of Tama, Iowa, Elias Wanatee of Rockwell City, Iowa, and Joshua Dick of Nekoosa, Wis.; two daughters, Mary Henry of Minnesota and Angela Dick of Nekoosa; and two sisters, Juanita Hearth of Minneapolis and Linda (Rod) Appleton of Winnebago.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Henry; her mother, Lydia Bradford; and a brother, Melvin Horn.

Pallbearers will be Matt Cox, Cory Holiday, Stuart Snake, Clint Free, Marvin Horn and Ernest "Chief" Wilson.
