SIOUX CITY -- Mildred B. Oleson, 92, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011, at a local hospital comforted by family.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Tim Vaughan and Mona Reece officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mildred was born June 26, 1918, in Lake Andes, S.D., to Roy and Ella (Bruseau) Newman.

She married Lawrence H. Oleson on Oct. 8, 1939, in Lake Andes. Mildred took great pride in being a homemaker and raising her children.

She enjoyed baking, sewing, hanging her clothing on the clothesline, reading and traveling. Mildred was a great listener to many, and was active in her church.

Mildred is survived by her children, Terry Oleson and his wife, Carolyn and Vikki Mischo and her husband, Neal, all of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; brothers, Wayne Newman and his wife, Ann of Yankton, S.D., and Dale Newman and his wife, Bernice of Belle Vista, Ark.; grandchildren, Larry Oleson and his wife, Lorrie, Deborah Martin and her husband, Matt, Chad Oleson and his wife, Amy, Brad Jensen, Lori Jensen, Teri Behr, and Craig Mischo and his wife, Michelle; great-grandchildren, Jaymie and Jayci McGill, Jaycob Oleson, Maxwell Martin, Heidi Petersen, Ty Lawrence Oleson, Emma Oleson, Christian Mischo, Madison Mischo, Ryker Mischo, and Ryan Behr; great-great-grandchildren Colton and Chloe Mischo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence in November 2000; infant son, Dennis; brothers, Larry and Kermit Newman; and sister, Dorothy Sullivan.
