SIOUX CITY -- Ruth F. Johnson, 93, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Sioux City, died Dec. 7, 2010, in Springfield.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Alan Wicks officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Ruth was born Aug. 9, 1917, in East St. Louis, Ill., the daughter of Louis and Euna (Gossett) Freudenberg. She grew up in East St. Louis and graduated from East St. Louis High School.

She married William Johnson on Feb. 14, 1945, in East St. Louis. He died in 1968 in Sioux City. Ruth had lived in Sioux City until 2008, when she moved to Springfield. She worked for Prudential Insurance in Sioux City for several years.

Ruth had been a member of First Lutheran Church. She did volunteer work for the Florence Crittenton Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Halama and her husband, William of Whitefish, Mont.; a son, Larry Johnson and his wife, Lu of Springfield; five grandchildren, Meredith Hallagan, Lacey Walsh, Eric Johnson, Bryce Johnson and Whitney Johnson; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; and two sisters, Lois Bradley and Mary Nichols.
