.SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy H. Caldwell, R.N., 89, of Brandon, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, passed away May 3, 2011.

Visitation with the family will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Stowers Funeral Home in Brandon. She will be interred with her husband in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.

She was born in Sioux City and was a World War II veteran who enlisted in the U.S. Army in November 1944. She received the American Theater Ribbon and Victory Medal serving as a first lieutenant general duty nurse. In the U.S. Army she met her husband of more than 50 years, Donald Caldwell, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, Donald Caldwell (Liz); daughters, Susan M. Caldwell and Kathleen Borysewicz (Paul); daughter-in-law, Christy Caldwell; grandson, Matthew Caldwell (Sarah) and great-granddaughter, Madeline Issa Caldwell.

She also was preceded in death by her sons, Bruce and Vincent Caldwell.
