4 May 2011SIOUX CITY -- Roger J. Sokolowski, 59, of Omaha, formerly of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha.
Memorial services will be noon Saturday at Braman Mortuary, Southwest Chapel, in Omaha.
Roger John Sokolowski was born Oct. 31, 1951, in Ida Grove, Iowa, the son of John and Eileen (Sevening) Sokolowski. He lived most of his childhood in Anthon, Iowa, and Sioux City. He graduated from East High School in 1969. He worked for Qwest (formerly NW Bell) for 39 and a half years, retiring on March 18, 2011.
He enjoyed music, playing his guitar, motorcycling and sailing. In his youth, he enjoyed playing baseball and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Justin (Rachel) Sokolowski and Kristin Sokolowski; his sisters, Marilyn Sokolowski, and Marsha (Jim) Skalisky; his grandchildren, Zane and Damon; nieces, Amy and Kari Skalisky; and a grandniece, Kadence.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society in his name.
