Anthon, Iowa—Doria Viola Sands, 75, of Anthon died Tuesday, October 12, 1999, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars, Iowa.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, with the Rev. Karen Handke officiating. Burial will be in Liston Township Cemetery, Danbury, Iowa.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sands was born Jan. 31, 1924 in Mount Vernon, Ill, the daughter of Roy and Icey (Avis) Stivers. She lived in Streeter, Ill., until adulthood.

She married Carl Sands on July 12, 1943, in South Sioux City. The couple lived in Anthon, where they farmed. They later owned and operated Carlie’s Place in Anthon.

She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit 9124 in Oto, Iowa.

Survivors include a son, Rick of Anthon; two daughters, Connie Metz of Le Mars and Sharon and her husband, David Richards of Tecumseh, Mo.; and three grandchildren, Michelle Metz, Tonja Richards Corbin and Troy Richards.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Shorty; and a grandson.
