CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Billy Jo "BJ" Anderson, 70, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, formerly of Correctionville, passed away Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at his home.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Dale Harlow officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the services today at the funeral home.

Billy Jo Anderson was born Dec. 9, 1940, in Correctionville. He attended schools there and graduated from the Correctionville School System in 1959. Following his education, he worked construction until 1961. Billy then became employed for the Illinois Central Rail Road. In 1963, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during Vietnam, until his honorable discharge in 1965. He returned to work at the Illinois Central Rail Road until retiring due to ill health in 2001.

On May 17, 1966, he was united in marriage to Rita Trammell at Church of Christ in Correctionville. The couple moved to Fort Dodge in 1967.

Billy loved racing, wrestling, football, restoring classic cars, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; children, Brian Anderson and his wife, Hope of Fonda, Iowa, April Siepker and her husband, Douglas of Rolfe, Iowa, and Corey Anderson of Fort Dodge; his mother, Dorothy B. Anderson of Des Moines; grandchildren, Dallas Wyatt, Valorie Anderson, Bradley Anderson, William Heun II, Brittnay Heun, Robert Heun, Braylie and Bryelie Siepker, Austin Anderson, and Blaine Anderson; great-grandchildren, Audrianna Wyatt, Dallas Wyatt Jr., and Kooper Anderson; a brother, James Anderson and his wife, Marilyn of Sioux City; and a sister, Barbara Springer and her husband, William of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Verlin Anderson; and a great-granddaughter, McKenna Nicole Wyatt.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
