SERGEANT BLUFF -- Dorothy A. Salmon, 83, of Sergeant Bluff, formerly of Overland Park, Kan., died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at a local hospital.

Services will be 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, at Community United Methodist Church in Sergeant Bluff. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Waterbury Funeral Service. Condolences may be left online at www.waterburyfuneralserviceinc.com.

Dorothy was born Oct. 13, 1927, to William and Catherine (Lyons) Morris, in Kansas City, Mo. She married William Salmon on Oct. 13, 1951. She worked for Interstate Bakeries and the HD Lee Company for several years. The rest of her career, she was employed as a legal secretary. She worked for various attorneys in Kansas City, Portland, Ore., and later in Sioux City.

Dorothy had a special love for pets, especially her cats, with which she always had at least one as a companion until she moved to Embassy Care Center, which had been her home for the last four years.

She leaves behind a daughter, Debra and her husband, Bill Wood of Seattle Wash.; two sons, Daniel and his wife, Sherri of Sioux City, and Robert of Lead, S.D.; a grandson, Eric Bruns of Seattle; two granddaughters, Joey Salmon and Jennifer and her husband, Brandon Myers of Sioux City; three great-grandsons, Davin Bruns of Seattle, and Tony and Alex Myers of Sioux City; a brother, William (Sonny) and Nancy Morris of Kansas City; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband; and a sister, Mary Ellen McCord.
