SIOUX CITY -- Henrietta Schuldt, 86, of Sioux City died in her sleep on Jan. 5, 2011, after suffering several years from the effects of dementia.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kenny Hsu officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Henrietta was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Hubbard, Neb., to Henry and Etta Thompson. She received her primary education in the old bell school house and later attended NBT Business College.

She married Orville Schuldt on Oct. 6, 1946, in Sioux City. Together they raised five children in the Sioux City area. Henrietta worked for Hartford Insurance and the Sioux City Stockyards and later for Burlington Northern, where she became the first female clerk of the railroad.

Henrietta was known for her wonderful cooking and strong focus on family. She enjoyed crafts and gardening. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by four children, Ronald Lee (Ginny) Schuldt of Littleton, Colo., Marcia Lynn (Mike) Harrington of Andover, Minn., David Wayne (Tomi) Schuldt of Champlin, Minn., and Douglas Alan Schuldt of South Sioux City; one sister, Betty Ogden of O'Neil, Neb.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Leslie Eugene Schuldt; her husband, Orville Laverne Schuldt; one sister, Wanita Conley; and one daughter-in-law, Jan Schuldt.
