SIOUX CITY -- Helen C. Cutler, 96, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Monsignor Roger Augustine of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church officiating, all at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Helen was born March 26, 1914, in Sioux City, to John and Della (Stuart) Morrisey. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Lowell Elementary, North Junior High and graduated from Central High School in 1931.

Helen was united in marriage to Harry Dean Cutler on Feb. 28, 1932, in Elk Point, S.D. He passed away in April 1958. She was employed with the Battery Company, Johnson Biscuit Company, Morningside College, Kresge's and Montgomery Ward Department Store. She retired in 1976.

Helen was an avid reader and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and all types of sports. She was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bulls. She enjoyed watching her family play sports. She also enjoyed fishing, singing and being a very independent person.

Survivors include her three children, Beverly and Ray Burkhart of Denver, Colo., Harry and Marcia Cutler of Sioux City and Neal Cutler of Jefferson, S.D.; grandchildren, Cathy and Ron Edge, JoLynn and John Richardson, Dean and Kelly Burkhart, Jeffery Cutler, Joel and Stacey Cutler, Jim Cutler, and Molly and Gene Bowman; 11 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother; a grandson; and a granddaughter.
