SIOUX CITY -- Nellie M. (Bernoski) Troy a former Sioux City resident died Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at her home in Seattle, Wash.

Services were celebrated at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Seattle. Interment was in Holyrood Cemetery, Seattle. An online Guest Book is available at www.Legacy.com.

Nellie was born Dec. 5, 1911, in Sioux City. She relocating her family in 1958. For many years Nell was employed as a secretary with the Seattle Public Schools, Guidance Counseling Center.

She was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, an active participant of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church. She was an avid reader, especially health issues, applying her knowledge of healthy nutrition to her family. Through her charity and good works, she supported many religious and other charities throughout her life. Nell displayed enormous energy, always engaged in some activity, usually in support of her family.

She will be remembered as a loving mother to Geraldine Troy, Carol Ann O'Connor, Mary Ellen Payne, all of Seattle, and Thomas (Judy) J. Troy, of Aberdeen, Wash. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters; and two brothers.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband, William (W.A.) Arthur Troy.

Remembrances may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Preservation Fund of St. Vincent de Paul Society, 5050 8th Avenue, N.E., Seattle, WA. 98105.
