4 January 2011SIOUX CITY -- Ronald A. "Ronnie" Marshall, 60, of Lawrence, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Ho-Chunk Center in Winnebago, Neb., with the Rev. Walter Goodwin Jr. officiating. Visitation will be until service time today at the Ho-Chunk Center.
Ronald was born Nov. 23, 1950, in Sioux City. He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City. He then served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. He graduated from Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kan. He also earned a bachelor's and master's degree from Pittsburg State Teacher's College in Pittsburg, Kan. he also obtained a second master's degree from Arizona State University. He was working on his PhD. Ronald was the department head of the graphic arts department at Haskell Indian Nations University.
His first wife was Rosalind Wilcox and they had three children.
He enjoyed the mountains, drawing, print making, traveling, playing basketball, listening to music, writing and body building. He enjoyed spending time with his family and 11 grandchildren. He was a devoted member of the Church of God in Christ Inc.
He is survived by his mother, Grace Tillman of Sioux City; his father, Ernest Marshall of Lawrence, Kan.; two sons, Rimmon Marshall of Sioux City and Jessie Marshall of Kansas; two daughters, Ronesha Marshall of Davenport, Iowa, and Rebecca Marshall of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Richenda Pritchard (Curtis Sr.) of Collierville, Tenn., Rena Goodwin (Walter Sr.) of Sioux City and Rhonda Tillman of Memphis; and three brothers, Lawrence Butler (Alfreda) of Winslow, Ariz., Robert Tillman of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Lester Tillman Jr. of Sioux City.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Lester Tillman Sr.; and a brother, Lee Tillman.
