Warren G. Flewelling, 82, of Sioux City died Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Martha Anderson of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery, Moville, Iowa. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mr. Flewelling was born Feb. 7, 1920, in Bronson, Iowa, the son of Frank and Sallie (Gregory) Flewelling. He was a lifelong Woodbury County, Iowa resident. He attended Woodbury county schools.

He married Phyllis Custer on June 10, 1941, in South Sioux City. He operated Flewelling Farms in rural Sioux City, Lawton and Moville, Iowa. He also operated Flewelling Sand and Gravel in Moville.

He was a member of Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with family and friends, visiting, farming, livestock, fishing, learning history, cooking and eating. He was a very kind caring and sharing person to everyone. He helped share his knowledge with his grandson's to learn the basics of life and to understand other people.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Sioux City; a son, Steven Flewelling of Lawton, Iowa; three sisters, Irene and her husband, Ray Clause, and Mildred Wright, all of Moville and Virginia and her husband, J.C. Goss, of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Marion and Agnes Flewelling of Washta, Iowa; two grandsons, Blake and Brett Flewelling, both of Lawton; numerous nieces and nephews; and his favorite dog, Max.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Harvey, William and Thomas Flewelling; and a sister, Audrey Wright.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Flewelling, Bob Flewelling, Danny Goss, Donnin Custer, Spencer Griffith and Gus Braun. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Wright, Ronnie, Raymond, Mike and Stanley Flewelling and Doyle Goss.
