SIOUX CITY -- Daniel D. Sullivan, 94, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at Touchstone Living Center.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Dan was born Dec. 22, 1915, in Meadow Grove, Neb., to Mert and Abbie (Bennett) Sullivan. Dan attended schools in the Meadow Grove area. He served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II, where he earned the Purple Heart Medal and Bronze Star.

Dan was married Helen Hazelip on Feb. 7 1948, in Dakota City. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2007, in Sioux City.

Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, playing cards and keeping up on current events. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Dan is survived by his daughter, Ann (Ken) Routon of Sergeant Bluff; granddaughter, Michelle (Jeff) Adam of Kyle, Texas and their children, Lexi and Cade; a grandson, Daniel Routon of Sergeant Bluff; brother, Robert Sullivan of Sioux City; sister, Kay Neswick of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; three brothers, Daryl, Harold and Leo; and two sisters, Jean Johnson and Betty Gaffey.
