SIOUX CITY -- Norma G. Severeide, 90, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, at a local hospital.

Services will be 9:30 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold Werley officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave.

Norma was born Oct. 18, 1919, in Schaller, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Inez (Veitch) Harris. She graduated from Sioux City East High School.

Norma married Donald L. Severeide on Dec. 30, 1939. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1997, in Sioux City after 52 years of a devoted marriage. Norma and Donald worked in the real estate business for many years. She also worked as a real estate loan officer for Security National Bank.

Norma was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and involved with the Ruth Circle. She was also a member of the P.E.O. Chapter JH, Morningside Country Club, Sioux City Boat Club, Sioux City Country Club, and Eastern Star. Norma was an avid golfer and volunteered much of her time at the school, when her children were young. She also enjoyed playing bridge, but her greatest love was spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, and being the glue that held the family together.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane and husband Vince Cox of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Scott and wife Ivy Towler, Lisa and husband Jerry Peterson, and Rob and wife Katie Towler; eight great-grandchildren, Jack, Sam, Hollie, Maggie, Will, Cade, Graham and Ben; a son-in-law, Ray Becker; and a brother, Dale and wife Darlene Harris of Sioux Falls, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Linda Becker; one sister; and two brothers.

Memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church.
