SIOUX CITY -- Randy Ray Collyns, 51, of Sioux City died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.

No services are planned. Abiding by his wishes, the body will be cremated. There will be a gathering after 6 p.m. Thursday at his son's residence. Arrangements are under the direction of Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent online to www.christysmith.com.

Randy was born July 3, 1959, in Sioux City. He attended Sioux City schools and received his general education degree. He received a degree in auto body work from Western Iowa Tech Community College. He lived in Sioux City most of his life.

He was employed in the boning department and the maintenance department at John Morrell and Co. He became a supervisor at John Morrell, before health forced his retirement. He also was employed in maintenance for the railroad, worked at I.B.P., did roofing and worked for the Powder River Explosive Co. of Gillette, Wyo., for two years.

He was an all-around handyman and tinkerman. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and had a good sense of humor.

Survivors include his mother, Gloria J. Richards of Sioux City; his father, Donald A. Collyns of Lynn, Mass.; his son, Travis Collyns of Sioux City; two sisters, Jeannie Tiemann of Omaha and Crystal Hauser of Sioux City; three brothers, Charles Collyns of Sioux City, James Richards of Ashton, Iowa, and Terry Richards of Sioux City; a granddaughter, Kameryn Collyns of Sioux City; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Collyns; and a niece, Jeannie Tiemann.
