SIOUX CITY -- Gary John Jorgensen of Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, Ariz.

Gary requested to be cremated and his ashes should be scattered over Canyon Lake near his home in Apache Junction.

Gary was born in Sioux City on Nov. 6, 1946, the son of Marlow Jorgensen and Elvina (Anders) Jorgensen. He graduated from Central High School in 1964. He was married to Carolyn Sandvick in June 1965. A son, Gregory, and a daughter, Amy, were born from that union.

Gary was a member of the local electrician's trade union and was employed with Thompson Electric until he relocated to Arizona, where he continued his trade. It was in Arizona where he met and married his wife, Patti in October 1993. They shared the cherished years together enjoying the outdoors beauty that Arizona has to offer. They especially enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets and hiking and camping in the mountains and the desert.

Gary is survived by his wife, Patti; his daughter, Amy and her husband, Mike O'Connor and grandsons, Joey and Dylan; Patti's children, Ken and Colleen, Karl and Sheri, Kurt, Keri and Walt and Kanton and three grandchildren; and his brothers, Don and Barbara, Ken and Tina and Bill; and his sister, Elizabeth and Jeff Delzell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Nancy; his son, Gregory; his maternal grandmother and aunts and uncles with whom he lived following his mother's death in 1946.

He has been remembered through the years by many friends in Sioux City and they will certainly feel his passing.
