SIOUX CITY -- Donna Rae Wauhob, 67, of Sioux City died peacefully with her family by her side Saturday, July 31, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Donna Rae was born Aug. 26, 1942, in Sioux City, the daughter of Olin and Phyllis (Stafford) Gorsett. She was born in the Springdale area of Sioux City before living the rest of her life on the Westside of Sioux City. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She attended West Junior High School and Central High School.

On May 4, 1963, she was united in marriage to Ronald Ray Wauhob at First United Methodist Church. She worked a few years at Pepsi Cola Hart Beverage before working at Floyd Valley Packing for nearly two decades. She finished her career as a loving child care provider.

She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, where she spent may years as the day-care provider and Sunday School teacher. She was a supporter of the Westside Little League Service for more than 30 years. She also was a Brownie Troop leader.

Donna was the perfect wife, mother and grandmother. She had a very unique way of loving and caring for her family and friends. She spent countless hours watching and supporting all of her family's sports and other activities, too many to mention. She had a love of the outdoors, especially spending time in her backyard with her rose garden. She loved watching birds and really enjoyed seeing a cardinal and hummingbird. In the fall, she enjoyed hunting with her family and long rides in the country spotting deer and other wildlife.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Ronald R. Wauhob; daughter, Rhonda and her husband, Dave, and their children, Melissa, Trevor and Dustin, and their grandchildren, Dominic and Dayonna; son, Kevin Wauhob and his wife, Karen and their children, Aeriel and Tanner; son, Russ Wauhob and his wife, Kim and their children, Ryan, McKayla, Aubrie, Brooklynn and Hunter; daughter, Julie Polak and her husband, Steve and their child, Brittney, all of Sioux City; three sisters, Wanda McGarr of Sergeant Bluff, Sandy and Jim Pallasch of Kenosha, Wis., Becky and Dennis Niven of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Doug Gorsett of Spring, Texas, and Dave and Peggy Gorsett of McCook Lake, S.D.; a sister-in-law, Kay Gorsett of Onalaska, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Gorsett; sisters, Bonnie Eyer and Linda Gorsett; a brother-in-law, Duane Eyer; and a sister-in-law, Val Gorsett.

Pallbearers will be Trevor and Dustin Wauhob, Michael and Ryan Gorsett, Kyle Frye and Trenton Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in her name had been established.
