SIOUX CITY -- Lloyd E. VanBuskirk, 77, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Lloyd was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Hawarden, Iowa, to William and Anna (Westegaard) VanBuskirk. He graduated from Hawarden High School. He was a hard working family man who always put his family first. He drove truck for several different companies. He also worked for Zenith, Otis Radio and retired from Kenworth as a diesel mechanic. He served his country with the U.S. Army.

He was united in marriage to Carol Twedt on July 19, 1952, in Hudson, S.D.

Although his family came first, he was a devoted, die-hard Iowa Hawkeyes fan. He loved watching the Hawkeyes, but he loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren even more. He was very well-known for his meticulous garage and yard, to him everything had a place. He also enjoyed being outdoors, camping, boating and playing on his jet skies.

He is survived by his wife, Carol VanBuskirk of Sioux City; a son, Steve (Susan) VanBuskirk of St. Charles, Iowa; a daughter, Pam (Rob) Washburn of Sioux City; a daughter, Patty (Keith) Kempers of Sioux City; a son, Kelly (Ruth) VanBuskirk of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, David (Holly) VanBuskirk and their children, Connor and Caitlin, Stacey (Chris) Brown and their children, Devin, Darian, Dakota, Dawson and Dallas, Annie (Jeff) Shafer and their children, Molly and Cayden, Sara Washburn, Brett (Danielle) Washburn and their son, Keegan, Matt Kempers and Ashley Schumacher and their daughter, Sierrah, Kenny Kempers, Chad Kempers, Tyler VanBuskirk and Trever VanBuskirk; and a sister, Shirley Bockelman of Hawarden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and four brothers.
