SIOUX CITY -- Roger A. Donahue, 70, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at his residence following a lengthy illness.

Services will be 1 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Alan Wicks officiating. Burial will be in Laurel City Cemetery, Laurel, Neb., with military rites. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Roger was born May 12, 1940, in Sioux City, the son of Edward and Esther (Bruce) Donahue. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in the Middle East from 1959 to 1963.

He was married to Florence Anderson. To this marriage a son, Craig Donahue, was born. Roger worked for Johnson Biscuit for many years. He then worked for Terra Chemical and retired from Nutrena Feeds.

He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1973. He enjoyed playing cards with his many friends at the post. He also enjoyed gardening and planting wild flowers in his yard while enjoying his retirement.

Survivors include a son, Craig Donahue of Southport, Fla.; a sister, Mary Conlon and her husband, James of Sergeant Bluff; a brother, Gary Donahue and his wife, Marjee of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jeanine and Kay; and two brothers, Robert and Bruce.

Pallbearers will be Dick Brown, Joe Conlon, Dan Conlon, Tom Donahue, Jerry Thompson and Bob Woodson.
