SIOUX CITY -- Ethel B. Richer, 90, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Touchstone Living Center.

Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Evangelical Free Church, 401 9th Street, Sioux City, with the Rev. Dan Doran officiating. A luncheon will follow. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ethel was born Oct. 24, 1919, in Vermillion, S.D., to Frank and Julia (Limoges) Richer. She worked as a physical therapist technician for more than 30 years after beginning her career as St. Vincent's Hospital's first nurses aide. After many years of dedication, she retired in the late 1970s to enjoy her family and home.

Ethel found her refuge in Jesus and salvation in his perfect life and sacrifice for her sins. Ethel was always grateful for his mercy and love and had a desire for others to know and trust him.

Ethel was known affectionately as mom by her daughter, Linda Casey; grandma by her four grandchildren, Pat, Mike, Don and Jolene; and eight great-grandchildren; as Aunt Ethel by her 11 nieces and nephews. All remember her as a loving grandmother and aunt who worked tirelessly and was always willing to sacrifice for the ones she cherished. She will be greatly missed.

Ethel was preceded in death by her sibling, Marie Lamoreaux.
