SIOUX CITY -- Craig Dennis Scheer, 61, of Sioux City went to join his Lord and Savior Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010.

Services will be 11 a.m. today at Riverside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Chuck Wolff officiating. Abiding by his wishes, cremation will follow the service today. Burial will be at a later date.

Craig was born Oct. 25, 1949, in Sioux City, the son of Laverne and Dorothy (Grell) Scheer. He served in the U.S. Navy after high school, where he enjoyed serving his country and arm wrestling.

Craig married Lois Berg on July 2, 1982, in Dakota City.

He had many friends and loved spending time helping others, going on walks, cutting firewood and watching a good Clint Eastwood movie. He was always happy to help his friends and family any time they needed him. One of his favorite pastimes was to go fishing in Oklahoma and Minnesota with his friends and family.

Anyone that knew him, knew him to be an incredibly genuine person. You always knew where you stood with him. He was a man who could find a bargain anywhere. He loved to find clothes and toys for his family, especially his grandkids. All you had to do was ask and he could find it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and the world is a little less bright without him here.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Lois; two sisters, Suzanne Hollingshead and Lenore Menzenberg; his children, Charles, Shawn and his wife, Michele, Melissa and her husband, Shawn, Craig "Boomer" and his wife, Brandy, Joseph and his wife, Melissa, and Aaron and his fiancee, Christine; and his grandchildren, Timothy, Alec, Eian, Gabriel, Seth, Jason, Samuel and Elyssa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Jeanice and Robin.
