SIOUX CITY -- Virginia Marie Carter, 88, formerly of Sioux City went to be with our Lord Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Life Care Hospital in McAllen, Texas.

A service of remembrance will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Virgil Wilson Memorial Chapel in Mission, Texas. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Duane Kirshner. Cremation to follow. She was born to Earl and Ethel Murphey on Aug. 4, 1922, in Sioux City. She was a long life resident of Sioux City, and the last 17 years of her life she resided in Mission, Texas, which became her permanent residence.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Stephen A. (Pam) III of Omaha, and Charles D. Carter of Mission, Texas; brother-in-law, Harold (Ellen) Carter; four beautiful grandchildren, Kristina, Kari, Stephen A. (Valery) IV of Omaha, and Nigel Carter, of Mission; and her great-grandson, Stephen A. Carter V.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Ethel Murphey; her husband, Stephen A. Carter Jr.; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Tom Ericson.
