SIOUX CITY -- Dennis L. Cox, 62, of Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Abiding by family wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date. Visitation with the family will be prior to the services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dennis Lee was born Aug. 3, 1948, in Sioux City, to Thomas and Pauline (Benson) Cox. He was baptized at Augustana Lutheran Church. The family moved to California, where Dennis attended schools in North Hollywood where he was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Dennis was employed by Burlington Coat Factory and later returned to Sioux City.

On Dec. 19, 1970, Dennis married Linda Rae Forney in Holly Springs, Iowa. He was employed by Sioux City Bottling Works. Following his divorce from Linda, Dennis moved to Mesa, Ariz., where for eight years he worked for Surf and Ski Printers. Upon returning to Sioux City in 2003, he was employed at Briar Cliff University for a short time.

Dennis' main interest was taking care of his car and apartment. He excelled in electronics and photography, and liked to read. He retired in November 2010, working at assisting his widowed mother.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Pauline Beales of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; a brother, Timothy Dean Cox and his wife, Kristi of Omaha; aunt, Beverly Ball and her husband, Jim in California; one niece; and two nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Edward Beales; and aunt, Donnabelle Benson.
