SIOUX CITY -- Viola "Faye" Winkler, 84, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010, after an extended stay at Holy Spirit Retirement with family at her side.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Calvary Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Travis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Viola Faye was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Westfield, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer Ellsworth and Emily Josephine (Provost) Noakes. She graduated from Central High School.

On July 12, 1946, she married Walter Austin Winkler in Sioux City. For years, Faye was known at both T.S. Martin and Younkers as the Estee Lauder cosmetic representative. She was also a longtime Avon representative. Her husband died April 15, 1994, in Sioux City.

In earlier years, she enjoyed golfing with her sister and bowling with friends. She also loved playing Yahtzee and cards with family and friends. Faye was a longtime active member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Faye is survived by a son and his wife, Mike and Brenda Winkler; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Bob LaFleur; a sister and her husband, Mary and Glenn Chesley, all of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Amy (Anthony) Sunclades, Chad (Jennifer) LaFleur, Matt (Kim) Winkler, Maran (Eric) Avery and Mary Winkler; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; a sister-in-law, Katherine (Dale) Traver of Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Chad LaFleur, Matt Winkler, Mark Winkler, Anthony Sunclades, Albert Baker and Eric Avery. Honorary pallbearers will be Amy Sunclades, Maran Avery, and her great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Siouxland and Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
