Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, in Omaha, Neb.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Calvary Cemetery, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Bernice was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Spokane, Wash. She moved to Sioux City, as a child and had lived in Milwaukee, Wis., San Francisco, Calif., Boston, Mass., Lincoln, Neb., and Omaha.

Bernice married Alvin Miller in Sioux City, on Dec. 21, 1940. He died July 11, 1979. While living in Lincoln, Neb., Bernice was a member of the Cornhusker State Clown Alley and the Clowns of America. She appeared in several cities for 17 years in her character costumes.

Bernice was a past recording secretary for the Southwest Omaha Republican Club and very active in the Republican campaigns in Douglas County and Nebraska. She was a member of Mary Our Queen Church in Omaha, a member of the Carmel Guild and the Queen of Peace in Sioux City.

She is survived by her son, Steven Miller and his wife, Liz of Bellevue, Neb.; six grandchildren, Matt Miller of Omaha, Michelle Miller of Bellevue, Eileen (Miller) Crean, Maureen, Mary and Ryan Miller of Brockton, Mass.; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas; sisters, Lillian Desy, Cecilia Fosnaugh and Josephine Martin; and her brother, Harold Desy.

Memorials to Mary Our Queen Church, Omaha, and to Queen of Peace, Sioux City.
