SIOUX CITY -- Lawrence Francis "Larry" Borrink, 67 of Lockeford, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.

A private family memorial service will be held at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Burial will be at a later date. Online condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com .

Larry was born in Fort Riley, Kan., on Nov. 18, 1942, to Laurence and Thelma (Hansen) Borrink. He was raised and attended school in Iowa. He was a long haul truck driver logging many miles back and forth across the United States.

Larry was in the Marine Corps Reserve, a member of the Lodi Elks Lodge and the Lodi Moose Lodge. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed poker, camping and being with friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, "Blue" (Betty Lou) Borrink of Lockeford, Calif.; a son, David Borrink of Sioux City; a daughter, Debbie (Robert) Pogge of Minden, Iowa; a stepson, Damon Wilhite and step-daughter, Ronica (Heath) De Alberts, both of California; his mother, Thelma Borrink of Sioux City; two sisters, Judy (Don) Dunning of Sergeant Bluff, and Pat (Ron) Goodwin of Spencer, Iowa; a brother, Fred (Pat) Borrink of Omaha, Neb.; two grandchildren, Bobbi Jo Pogge and Brandon Pogge; three stepgrandchildren, Samuel Ruiz, Kimmy De Alberts and Kelly De Alberts; a great-stepgrandson, Samuel Ruiz Jr.; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Laurence Borrink; and his grandparents, Carl and Mary Hansen and John and Martha Borrink.
