SIOUX CITY -- Rodger D. Serviss, 72, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Rodger was born Dec. 4, 1937, in the Springdale section of Sioux City, to Emery and Gladys (Bolte) Serviss. He attended Sioux Point School in North Sioux City.

Rodger was married to Margaret Cain on July 3, 1964, in Sioux City. He was an operator and mud man for Klinger and Holtz and Chris Hanson Companies.

He enjoyed spending his free time on the family farm riding his ATV, mowing and riding his tractor. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Serviss of Sioux City; a son, Rodger (Barbara) Serviss Jr.; twin daughters, Rhonda Ruth (Larry Sutliff) Serviss of Sioux City, and Wanda Sue Serviss of Le Mars, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Nolan (Stella) Serviss of Sioux City, and James Serviss of Aurelia, Iowa; and his father-in-law, Mark M. Cain of Homer, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Ruth Cain; a grandson, Frank Yoerger; a niece, Carrie; and a nephew, Donnie Serviss.
