SIOUX CITY -- Jean Ann Reynolds-Hill, 76, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at her residence after a short illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. and the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Jean Ann was born Feb. 15, 1934, in Randolph, Neb., the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth (Gentleman) Peasinger. As a young child, she moved to Omaha with her family. While in Omaha, she graduated from St. Cecelia High School and attended Duchesne Academy.

On June 27, 1953, she married Dr. William Reynolds. To that union they had eight children. The couple moved to Laurel, Neb., where her husband started his medical practice. They lived for five-and- one-half years in Laurel before relocating to South Sioux City. In 1968, they moved to Sioux City.

After 47 years of marriage, Dr. Reynolds passed on Aug. 16, 1997, in Sioux City. Jean attended a grief and growth program, where she met John D. Hill. They formed a friendship which developed into a loving, committed relationship. The couple married in April 2004 in Elk Point, S.D. John passed away on Dec. 30, 2006, in Sioux City.

Jean was a dedicated wife and mother to her eight children. She was an avid fan of college football, especially Notre Dame. She also enjoyed politics, fashion design, traveling and gardening. She took great pride in her roses she grew and had a great appreciation of nature, often pointing out nature's beauty to others. She was a longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Church and was a faithful friend of Bill W. for more than 31 years.

Survivors include her eight children and their spouses, W. Mike and Jane (Murray) Reynolds of Sioux City, Robert Reynolds of Omaha, Julie and Rob Dirks of Ankeny, Iowa, Mary Elizabeth Reynolds of Lincoln, Neb., Pam Jahan-Shahi of Henderson, Nev., Susan and Vince Walding of Chesterton, Ind., Lisa Reynolds of Omaha and Jackie Reynolds of Sioux City; 14 grandchildren, Michael, Laura, Patrick, Eric, Sara, Lori, Brooke, Bobby, Darius, Nick, Natalie, Theresa, John and Phillip; a new great-granddaughter, Olivia Ann; a brother-in-law, George Weidner of Omaha; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; four siblings, Helen Peterson, Charles Peasinger, Rosemary Weidner and George Peasinger.

Pallbearers will be Nick Walding, Michael Reynolds, Eric Dirks, Patrick Reynolds, John Walding, Bobby Jahan-Shahi, and Phillip Walding.
