SIOUX CITY -- Helen Abrak Clark, 94, formerly of Sioux City, died peacefully and comfortably in her sleep at Palomar Medical Center, Escondido, Calif., on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010.

A memorial service in her honor, followed by a luncheon celebrating her life, was held Nov. 17 at the House of Prayer Lutheran Church.

Helen Abrak Clark was born in Sioux City on July 4, 1916, and was the oldest surviving child of Sophia and George Abrak. She had two brothers, William and Walter, and one sister, Catherine, each of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City in June 1933. When living in Sioux City, she was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church, where she was confirmed and married, a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Morningside Country Club.

She was married to Marvin Raymond Clark in Sioux City on Nov. 14, 1936. He preceded her in death. She and her husband moved to San Diego, Calif., in January 1956, where she was a member of Clairemont Lutheran Church. They moved to Escondido in July 1971, where she was a longtime member of the House of Prayer Lutheran Church.

They had three sons, Robert Marvin Clark, of Escondido, Calif., William Ernest Clark of Ramona, Calif., and James George Clark of LaJolla, Calif., each of whom survive them. They had one daughter, Judith Ann Joyce, who preceded them in death.

Helen Clark has 11 grandchildren, Robert Marvin Clark Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev., Alexander Nicholas Clark of Dallas, Texas, DeLanda Willys Clark of Escondido, Clark, Cassandra Clayton Clark of Escondido, Stacy Figueroa of Phoenix, Ariz., Kirsten Joyce of Ramona, Calif., Michael Clark of Ramona, Nicole Clark of Los Angeles, Calif., Carly Clark of Ramona, Chelsey Clark Supinski of Grand Junction, Colo., and Darci Clark of Escondido. She also has four great-grandchildren, Ethan Willys Clark of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., Kaylene Stehlik of Ramona, Brooke Stehlik of Ramona, and Landri Ann Supinski of Grand Junction, Colo.
