SIOUX CITY -- Ada L. Via, 84, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Westwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Ada was born July 11, 1926, in Correctionville, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde and Adeline (Carpenter) Bolles. She grew up in Correctionville and graduated from Correctionville High School. She then attended the National Business Training School in Sioux City.

Ada married George F. Via on Feb. 17, 1945, in Sioux City. She worked at J.C. Penney in Sioux City, and later for Drs. Sidney and Randy Bergen for many years. After she retired from Dr. Bergen's office, she worked at J.C. Penney again and at Hy-Vee.

She was a longtime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and baking cakes. She was a NASCAR fan, with Jeff Gordon being her favorite driver. She was an artist and enjoyed painting and ceramics.

Survivors include her three children, Carol Tullis and her husband, Gary of Norfolk, Neb., David Via and his wife, Angela of Sioux City, and Candis Biggerstaff and her husband, Dennis of Wakefield, Neb.; a brother, Charles Bolles of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and longtime family friend, Dr. Randy Bergen of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George, on June 7, 2003; a sister, OnaMae; and two brothers, Clyde and Duane.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Boniface Catholic Church.
