SIOUX CITY -- Catherine V. Glover, 85, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at her residence.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Catherine was born May 19, 1925, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Leahy) Miller. Catherine graduated from St. Angela's Academy in Carroll, Iowa, in 1945. After graduation, she attended St. Joseph's Nursing School.

Catherine married Elwyn "Dick" Glover on March 4, 1950, in Sioux City. She was employed with Marion Health Center as a charge nurse for 40 years.

She loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Catherine enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling to the lake home, Irish music, old movies and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Catherine is survived by two daughters, Anita (Darrell) Carpenter and Debra Hansel, both of Sioux City; five grandchildren, John (Pam) Carpenter, Tina (Steve) Steck, Bill (Bobbi) Carpenter, Rick Edward and Vic Johnson; nine great-grandchildren, Hunter, Kane, Brennen, Berklee, Molly, Brittany, Riley, Nicole and Beau; a sister, Rose (Gene) Slater of California; and her special cat, ButterBall.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick; two sons, Steven and David Glover; a grandson, Richard Jason; and two sisters, Ceclia and Peg.
