ANTHON, Iowa -- Freddie Putzier, 66, of Anthon passed away on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Anthon, with the Rev. Andrew Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon.

Freddie Gene "Fritz" Putzier was born July 2, 1944, near Anthon, Iowa, the son of Elvin and Maymie (Rohwedder) Putzier. He was raised in the Anthon area, where he graduated from the Anthon-Oto High School with perfect attendance.

He married Sis Bainbridge on July 27, 1963, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Anthon, where they both were baptized and confirmed. Fritz was also a past elder of the church. He worked in the road and bridge construction industry as a laborer. In 1965, he started working for Wilson Foods in Cherokee, where he retired after 43 years of service. After his retirement he continued to work for Matt and Rosie Peterson of Anthon, and Maple Valley Feeders of Correctionville, Iowa.

Fritz was an avid outdoors man and lived to hunt, fish, trap and spend time with family and friends. Most of all, however, he found pleasure in spending time with his son, Troy and grandsons, Zach and David.

He is survived by Sis, his wife of 47 years; a son, Troy Putzier and his companion Lisa Petersen of Oto, Iowa; two grandsons, Zach Putzier and David Putzier, also of Oto; two sisters, Evelyn Livermore Fischer of Lynchburg, Mo., and Tootie Lapko and her husband, Ed of North Edwards, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; and many good friends.

Fritz was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Freddie, Jr.; two brothers, Hank and Frank Putzier; and a sister, Helen Fundermann.
