SIOUX CITY -- Roger A. Honsbruch, 58, of Sioux City died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at a local hospital.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Aurelia, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service at 8 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service.

Roger Adrian Honsbruch was born Feb. 16, 1952, in Alta, Iowa, the son of Adrian and Evelyn (Stief) Honsbruch. He was raised and educated in the rural Aurelia area. As a youth, he was known for building things and in high school, for his talent in music.

Roger was united in marriage to Patricia Glawe on Feb. 24, 1973, in Aurelia. Since the early 1980s, they made their home in the Sioux City area. He enjoyed playing golf, boating and fishing. Roger was active as a coach with children’s athletic teams. Roger was an ISU sports fan.

Roger was currently a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. The family attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sioux City, while the children attended elementary school there. While the family attended St. Paul's, Roger was an elder and was very active in the scouting program at the school.

Roger is survived by his wife, Patricia; his two sons, Greg and his wife, Megann of West Lafayette, Ind., and Brent Honsbruch of Parachute, Colo.; his daughter, Kelsey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Janet and her husband, Dale Stearns of Parkersburg, Iowa, and Darla and her husband, Terry Johnson of Jefferson, Iowa; three grandchildren, Carter, Keira and Kaylie Honsbruch; along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law.
