SIOUX CITY -- Kenneth E. "Kenny" O'Dea Sr., 76, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Kenny, the son to Kenneth W. and Bonnie (McKeever) O'Dea, was born Jan. 22, 1934, in Sioux City. He attended St. Boniface Grade School and Heelan High School. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954. during the Korean War.

He married Frances E. Stanislav on Dec. 11, 1954, in Sioux City. He worked for Sunshine Food Markets as an apprentice meat cutter and later for Hinky Dinky as meat manager, then meat supervisor. He went on to join Braungers as a meat manager at their retail store and then as a salesman for Braungers Wholesale. He retired in 2005.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing and vacationing with his family in Minnesota. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight. He currently was a member of the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Frances O'Dea of Sioux City; five sons, Ken E. (Leigh) O'Dea Jr. of Sioux City, Michael (Jenny) O'Dea of Omaha, Pat O'Dea of Fort Collins, Colo., Tim (Mary) O'Dea of Erie, Colo., and Terry (Allie) O'Dea of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Brenda (Ken) Janicek of Beaver Lake, Neb.; a brother, Shawn (Barb) O'Dea of Walla Walla, Wash.; a sister, Shirlee (Leroy) Rosenbaum of Sioux City; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five sisters, Kathleen Ross, Dawn Clausen, Colleen Warren, Connie Lucart, and Bonneen Bartle.
