SIOUX CITY -- Oliver F. Weber, 102, received the best gift of all on Dec. 25, 2010, when he was called to his heavenly home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Southern Hills Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dave Miller officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery, Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Oliver was born July 6, 1908, in Holly Springs, Iowa, where he lived most of his life. He was the ninth child of Edward and Christina (Rose) Weber. He lived his entire life in Woodbury County, Iowa. Oliver worked for 33 years for the Holly Springs School District (later Westwood) as a custodian and bus driver.

He was loved by the Holly Springs community and several generations of students. He was well known for his bountiful gardens and his love for fishing. He had a valve trombone that he often used to entertain guests. He also played the harmonica, most recently at his 102nd birthday party.

Oliver received Jesus Christ as his savior as a young man. He spent his entire life sharing the hope of John 3:16 with everyone he met. He was a charter member of Billy Sunday Tabernacle. He has left a legacy for his family that few families have the opportunity to experience. His faithfulness to hold his family up in prayer resulted in several family members becoming full-time missionaries.

He is survived by his sons, Edward Weber and his wife, Marietta of Carter Lake, Iowa, and Roland Weber and his wife, Cindy of Springdale, Ark.; daughters, Marian Gallagher of Hornick, Iowa, and Deloras Keck and her husband, Leo of Kingsley, Iowa; a son-in-law, Darrell Ritchie of Sioux City; grandchildren, Diana Winkler, Marilyn Mosier, Doug Ritchie, David Ritchie, Dan Weber, Curt Weber, Ken Weber, Shelly Weber, Don Gallagher, Darlene Mowry, Dennis Gallagher, Kim Lilly, Kerry Keck, Steven Weber, Scott Weber, and Robert Weber; 33 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren with six more expected soon. Oliver will be missed by his family, which spans five generations and numbers more than 100, and many friends whose lives he impacted greatly during his life time.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Cora; a daughter, Betty Ritchie; a granddaughter, Sandra Ritchie Roethler; a son-in-law, Junior Gallagher; his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Wilmer and Everett Weber; and six sisters, Hulda Weber, Mary Hanner, Amanda Steinhoff, Rosena Bowman, Lottie Lee and Lorena Weimer.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

The family prefers memorials to the Child Evangelical Fellowship in his name.
