George Edward Able of Sloan was almost instantly killed Saturday evening when he was struck by an automobile while walking along the pavement on highway 75 between Sargeant Bluffs and Salix.

Mr. Able was born in Marysville, Missouri, October 21, 1879. He moved with his parents to Hornick, Iowa, in 1901 and five years later married Bertha Lawrence of Morgan, Minn. Mr. Able moved his family to Sloan about 19 years ago where he lived until his death.

He is survived by his wife, now living in Sioux City, two daughters, Mrs. Florence Oyer of Minneapolis and Genevieve Able of Sioux City; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Able of Sloan; five sisters, Mrs. Clyde Patterson and Mrs. Pete Rysdam of Sloan, Mrs. Everett Hall of Whiting, Mrs. Don Worley and Mrs. Fred Ashworth of Hornick; two brothers, Charlie and Thomas of Sloan.

Funeral services were held in the Sloan Christian Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. M.C. Miller presiding. Burial was made in Holly Springs Cemetery.
