MOVILLE, Iowa -- Grace Pratt Babcock, 91, of Moville passed away peacefully at her home in Moville on Tuesday evening, June 22, 2010.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Johnson-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley, Iowa, with the Rev. Matt Wentz officiating. Interment will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Johnson-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley. Visitation will continue on Monday morning, one hour prior to the service. Grace Pratt Babcock, the daughter of George Harrison and Gola Almira (Weathers) Pratt, was born on the family farm near Kingsley on Aug. 13, 1918. She was the middle child of three and attended rural country school near Kingsley. In 1934, at the age of 15, Grace graduated from Kingsley High School. She continued her education and graduated with a two-year college degree from Western Union College (Westmar) in Le Mars, Iowa.

On Sept. 28, 1942, in Murray, Ky., Grace was united in marriage to Richard Franklin "Dick" Babcock. The couple became the proud parents of a daughter and two sons. Following completion of Dick's military duties in Tennessee, Grace and Dick returned to Iowa. Some area residents may recall that Grace was a bookkeeper for numerous years at the First Trust and Savings Bank in Moville. She was also a former city clerk.

Grace took great pride in her family. She showered her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters with constant love and support. Grace treasured family vacations and loved to cook and bake.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Moville.

Grace will be dearly cherished by her children, Kathleen and Roger Anderson of Sioux City, Dr. James and Helen Babcock of San Bernardino, Calif., and Kevin Babcock of Des Moines; her brother, Ben and Suzy Pratt of Kingsley; her seven grandchildren, Megan (Jason) Alexander, Michelle Babcock, Heath Babcock, Diana Anderson, Josie Babcock, Harry Babcock and Jacob Babcock; her three great-granddaughters, Kelli Rose, Alyssa Mae and Rebecca Grace; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Preceding Grace in death is her husband, Richard "Dick" Babcock on June 22, 2003; her parents, James and Gola Pratt; and her sister, Hilma Artz.
