Lola Ella Adkins of Oto, Iowa, died on Tuesday, June 21, 1988, at the home of her daughter, Dorothy Murphy, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Death came at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 29 days.
She was born at Eagle, Nebraska, on June 23, 1911, the daughter of George Elliot and Amanda (Housh) Peterson. She married Orvel Adkins in 1929. The couple lived at Shenandoah, Iowa; Plattsmouth and Omaha, Nebraska; and Oto, Iowa.
Survivors include four daughters, Loretta Jean Brown and Gereldine Kennedy, both of Union, Nebraska, Dorothy Murphy of Las Vegas, Nevada and Lucille Gotto of Oto, Iowa; four sons, Orvel of Bellevue, Nebraska, Wayne of Hornick, Iowa and Gary and Bill, both of Oto, Iowa; thirty-five grandchildren; and fifty-two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a son, Gerald: a sister, Ola; and three brothers, Dick Vogan, Milas Housh and John Peterson.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 1988, at the United Church of Christ in Rodney, Iowa, with Reverend Gary DeGeest officiating. The organist was Mrs. Ellen Harbeck and the vocalists were Greg and Patrick O’Connell.
Casketbearers were Kim Adkins, Gene Adkins, Randy Struble, Eddie Simons, Robert, Brown and Chuckie Murphy.
Interment was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Nebraska with arrangements by the Willman Funeral Home in Rodney, Iowa.
