Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church in Hornick for Loren L. Ripple, 62, who died Wednesday at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.
The Rev. Keith Scott will officiate. Burial will be in the Smithland Cemetery under the direction of the Wood Funeral Home of Sloan.Mr. Ripple was born Nov. 2, 1901, at Anthon, and married Cecile Johnson at Sioux City on June 1, 1927. The couple lived for nine years on a farm near Smithland, and the next 14 years farmed near Oto.
In 1951 he purchased the Hornick Grocery Store which he operated until he retired early this year.
He was a member of the Methodist Church at Hornick, and Attice Lodge 502, AF&AM, at Sloan.
Survivors are the widow; a son, Willis D. of Sacramento, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Ellen L. Ritchie of Smithland and Mrs. Marlene C Hoffman of Sioux City; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Evan of Bolivar, Mo., Robert of McAllen, Texas, Dr. Richard of Sacramento, and Gordon of Woodland Hills, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Robiedean of Clark, S.D. and Mrs. Wilma Peters of LeMars, Iowa.
