Funeral Services Held Monday For Robert Neustrom

Funeral services for Robert V. Neustrom, 74, of Moville were held Monday, October 2, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville. Rev. Jerome A. Degan officiated. Rev. Orrin T. Potter was Eulogist. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Anthon under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home in Moville. Military graveside rites were conducted by Wink-Sparks American Legion Post No. 303.

Special music was provided by the Immaculate Conception Church Choir. Millie Wycoff was organist.

Casketbearers were sons, Robert C. Thomas, Timothy, Terry, Kelly and Kirk Neustrom.

Honorary casketbearers were Messrs. Cleo Yanacheak, Frank Cunningham, Burdette Weaver, Tommy Nord, Gary Gruis, Orrin Potter, Jim Dixon, Walt Thompson, Boots McNamara, Jack Hannah and Dean Clark.

Mr. Neustrom was born February 11, 1921, in Sioux City, the son of Martin and Anna (McGril) Neustrom. He graduated from Anthon High School in 1939 and then attended Wayne State College for a year. He served as an Army paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during World War II, serving in the European Theatre of France, Germany and England. He married Shirley Thomas September 1m 1945, in Moville. Mr. Neustrom lived most of his life on a farm between Moville and Anthon, moving to Moville in 1968 when he retired from farming. He then drive a semitrailer for 20 years, retiring in 1988.

He belonged to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville. He was a member of Wink-Sparks Post 303, American Legion of Moville and Lawrence C. Shull Post 580, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Neustrom was also a driver for Meals on Wheels.

Mr. Neustrom died Friday, September 29, 1995 at his home following a brief illness.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; six sons, Thomas and his wife Emmy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Robert C. of Moville, Timothy and his wife Laura and Terry and Kelly all of Sioux City and Kirk and his wife Amy of Iowa City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Amie, Timoni, Anthony, Sarah, Michael and Traci Neustrom; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Pauline Dickman of Tallahassee, Florida; a brother and his wife, Gene and Mary Lee Bridges of Honolulu, Hawaii and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepmother, Mattie Neustrom.

A memorial has been established in his name with Wink-Sparks Post 303, American Legion of Moville.
